Patrick Mahomes was out for most of the 2017 season, but by the time 2018 rolled around, he was in complete control. At the same time, running back Saquon Barkley began to embrace the NFL gridiron lifestyle. While both players have had very different experiences over the past five seasons, the two superstars could join forces very soon.
In an article published in Sports Illustrated, NFL analyst Mike Fisher revealed (via Lester A. Wiltfrog) about Twitter that SportsBettingAG has placed the Chiefs in the top four to land the superstar. This is how he put it:
“According to the latest odds, the Bills join the Chicago Bears at the top of the list in terms of potential landing spots in Saquon, with the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs theoretically also in play for the 26-year-old superstar. “.
Will the Chiefs pull the trigger to get Saquon Barkley?
Most would agree that the addition of the running back can round out the roster for Mahomes, who has certainly already done more than enough to lift the Lombardi Trophy this season. However, one of the untested places on the list has been running back for the past decade.
Adding Barkley behind Mahomes would give Travis Kelce and Juju Smith-Schuster on the outside and a superstar to pass the ball in tough situations. The running back would also serve as a deadly offload option for Mahomes.

Saquon Barkley gives Mahomes’ Chiefs a reason to go on hiatus
Barkley had 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022. He also had the first playoff experience of his career as the Giants reached the postseason for the first time since the Eli Manning era.
Looking back, of course, his injury record is the only blemish on an otherwise successful move.
In 2020 and 2021, the running back gained fewer than 650 combined total rushing yards. However, he came around the corner in 2022 with stellar numbers. The future is likely to be bright and the question is whether the Chiefs want to participate.
