Kevin Costner criticizes reports he’s shelving Yellowstone season 5

Kevin Koster would like to clap.

Earlier this month, a surprising report surfaced that the Golden Globe-winning actor was refusing to stay on location for more than a week to film new episodes of Yellowstone.

The drama is the highest rated show on television.

by a large margin.

The above report also cited a source who claimed that producers Taylor Sheridan were set to cancel Yellowstone… and replace it with a spinoff that stars Matthew McConaughey in the lead role.

Is there any truth to this rumour?

Not a piece of it, according to Costner’s attorney.

“The idea that Kevin was set to work only one week on the second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone is a complete lie,” Marty Singer, a lawyer for the 68-year-old actor, told Puck.News on Tuesday.

“It’s ridiculous – and nobody who suggests this should be believed for one second.

“As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone above and beyond to ensure its success.”

Yellowstone is a huge hit, with a single-day average of 8.2 million viewers for Paramount Network, which is better than any scripted show on broadcast or cable networks so far this season.

Earlier today, a rep for Paramount gave us a brief statement regarding allegations that Costner’s schedule disagreements have delayed his return for season 5:

“As we’ve said before, Kevin has been a key component of the success of our Yellowstone series, and we hope he continues to do so.

“We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a huge part of Yellowstone, and we hope to remain so for a long time to come.

“Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on expanding the franchise to this incredible world she has created.

“Matthew McConaughey is an extraordinary talent we would love to partner with.”

Yellowstone was expected to air the back half of season 5 this summer.

however, the episodes have not yet been filmed.

Now they are reportedly set to shoot this summer and fall and air in November.

The series also stars Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, and Wes Bentley.
