Today’s sad news from Hollywood:
Kyle Jacobs — husband of former American Idol standout Kellie Pickler — was found dead at the couple’s Tennessee home on February 17 following an apparent suicide, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department confirmed in a statement.
He was 49 years old.
According to the official report, officers were called to Pickler’s residence around 1:21 a.m. after she awoke and could not find her husband.
Picker and his personal assistant were then unable to open the upstairs bedroom/office door, at which time they dialed 911.
Police and the Nashville Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the songwriter “dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” they said in the statement:
“His death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.”
A singer/songwriter herself, Jacobs shared a celebratory Instagram post the day before she died regarding the success of Lee Brice’s fifth studio album.
“Platinum?! Sweet!!! An amazing crew of incredibly talented peeps put this together” Jacobs captioned the post, as you can see below.
Throughout his career, Jacobs has won a CMA Award, an ACM Award, and been nominated for a Grammy Award.
He and Picker began dating in 2008, became engaged in June 2010, and then married on New Year’s Day 2011.
“It was the most spiritual moment.” Pickler, a former finalist on American Idol, previously had this to say about the proposal.
“We would have been married that night if there had been a preacher walking in!”
A few days after taking the pledge, Pickler tweeted:
“Private island. Caribbean. Cigar in one hand, rum in the other. Someone just called me “Mrs. Jacobs.” … feels good :)”
The couple, who had no children together, starred in three seasons of her own CMT reality show, I Love Kellie Pickler, from 2015 to 2017.
The program chronicles Picker and Jacobs’ marriage as they intertwined personal lives and their professional lives.
“We just do everything we can,” Jacobs told Yahoo’s Build series in 2017. We love doing that, and that’s what this show is about. Our show is love and laughter.
Jacobs – who wrote songs for Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw – added at the time:
“There’s always stress in life…and I think if you [and] Especially with your significant other you can laugh about it a lot and laugh through it, then you are in a good place.
We send our condolences to the friends, family members and loved ones of Kyle Jacobs. May his soul rest in peace.
