Lorraine Brovarnick left speechless after family crashes baby shower

But Lorraine and Alexi: 90 Days Later In Season 2, a central conflict finds a family increasingly falling apart.

The titular couple are considering moving to Israel. They would remain there for many years, immersing their young children in their father’s culture.

The resulting reaction from Lorraine’s parents has been jaw-dropping. They’ve made good points, they’ve made bad points, they’ve yelled in her face, and they’ve refused to babysit.

In this week’s episode, his mother and equally frustrating sister take a different approach. They crashed her baby shower.

Lorraine Brownick expresses her surprise and distress when her friends tell her that her own parents aren’t attending her baby shower.

It’s not like missing a birthday or Thanksgiving. Even if a person has many baby showers during their lifetime, each one is unique.

But it’s not like his mom Marlene wasn’t coming. Neither was his sister Rebecca.

Still the show went on. Lorraine’s baby shower had a “lemons and love” motif. Ok.

Despite the RSVP of his “no” and months of emotional distance and very real friction, there was little surprise at the party.

Marlene and Rebecca show up unexpectedly. Although he initially received an invitation, it was of course Crashing the Party

Naturally, Lorraine reacted with shock. and then some.

She admitted that she felt “nervous”, but took it easy.

During the episode, Lorraine explains to the audience that she is trying to view this baby shower as “just another day”.

Still, it felt very strange for her mother and sister to just march into the party and “act like nothing happened”.

Party-crashers can ruin an event. It’s easy to celebrate the good and the happy, but when something goes terribly wrong it can be almost impossible to ignore.

Somehow, her mom and sister RSVPing “no” only to show up anyway is worse than attending normally and even worse if they just didn’t show up. Worst of both worlds.

Luckily, Marlene and Rebecca don’t come to the baby shower in a confrontational spirit.

Instead, they played it cool — you know, like normal people — even offering to hug Lorraine’s friends.

But… everyone knows what’s up. So Lorraine admitted to the camera: “I’m hardly speechless, and I think my face showed ‘What the f—k?'”

What one person sees as polite and understanding, another may see as two-faced or dishonest. Life is complicated like that.

Some fans are holding out hope that this will somehow heal Lorraine and her family… finally.

But with baby showers so stressful, we wouldn’t bet on it.

Throughout this season, we’ve watched Lorraine’s parents react to her and Alexi’s tentative plans to move to Israel.

Lots of fans have expressed (limited) sympathy. Which grandparent wants to miss the years of important bonding with their grandchildren? Israel’s underlying politics aside (and Needed we put them aside?), they will disappear.

But, for the most part, Marlene and Brian have completely failed in their attempts to discourage the move. Sometimes the messenger kills the message.
