Brazil’s soccer federation has denied reports that Carlo Ancelotti has reached a new deal to take over as coach of the national team.
ESPN Brasil had previously reported that the Italian manager had agreed to join Le Selecao as their head coach.
The five-time world champions have been actively looking for a new coach. Former coach Tite resigned after his elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals.
Ancelotti was one of the high-profile names to take over as manager of Le Selecao. CBF, however, denied those rumors. His statement said:
“The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reports that the news released this Friday (10/02) that the Real Madrid coach, the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, is the new coach of the Brazilian team is unfounded.”
The statement further said:
President Ednaldo Rodrigues maintains the statements made on Wednesday, after the draw for the Copa do Brasil matches. At the time, the official dismissed speculation, saying that the matter is being dealt with transparently and that the chosen coach will be announced in due time.”

Ancelotti is contracted by Real Madrid until the end of the 2023-24 season. The Italian recently stated that he will see the current deal. He said (h/t Fabrizio Romano):
“Brazilian team? I don’t know anything about this, I don’t even know what they reported in Brazil. I am the coach of Real Madrid, my contract is until June 2024.”

Ancelotti is currently focused on Real Madrid’s clash against Al-Hilal in the Club World Cup final on Saturday, February 11. The white coach assured that the team is looking forward to lifting its first trophy of the season. He said (via the club’s official website):
“It is a great challenge. We are very close to winning a trophy that is very important to us. It has been extremely difficult to get here and we have made many sacrifices. This is a day of excitement and desire. I urge the team to enjoy this game and do their best. We are well prepared and we want to win, as always.”
Carlo Ancelotti spoke about the Brazilian star Rodrygo
Before the clash against Al-Hilal, Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the talent that Brazilian striker Rodrygo possesses. Speaking of the young attacker, Ancelotti made reference to his conversation with Federico Valverde and said:
“I don’t know, he has the quality to score many goals. He scores important goals, last year he scored the big goals. I’m not going to play it because I’m playing Valverde and I’m not going to risk it with Rodrygo”.
Rodrygo has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 31 inter-competition games for Real Madrid this season.
